ICUK is committed to providing high quality Internet
services. We stick by our policy of not issuing free, "cheap and
cheerful" modems, simply because one modem doesn't suit all,
and would almost certainly prove more troublesome from a support
point of view. They are free for a reason. To
avoid situations whereby our staff are constantly supporting cheap
modems, we can only recommend that customers purchase their own equipment,
and follow our recommendations. We will be happy to help guide you
through installation proceedures and confirming any settings you
are not sure of.
From experience, Netgear products
form an easy and reliable way of connecting to the Internet. The
details provided below are for information only, we don't sell the
hardware to you. Our recommendations are made purely on our own experiences
and dealing with many thousands of support calls.
For full specifications and compatibility queries
please refer to Netgear's website - www.netgear.co.uk.
We can help advise you in your hardware purchasing

Broadband Hardware FAQs
Where should I purchase hardware from?
We always recommend that you purchase your ADSL hardware locally.
Should a hardware failure occur it is far easier to go to your
local vendor than send back to an online shop for testing and then
replacement. If you wish to purchase ADSL equipment online, which
does work out slightly cheaper, we recommend using www.dabs.com who have consistently proved reliable for our own needs.
Will ICUK help me setup a Netgear router?
We will do our best to help all customers over the phone. All staff
are trained in the setting up Netgear routers and the whole process
normally takes less than 5 minutes. We do recommend you follow
the instructions provided first, but if stuck we are here to help.
Why doesn't ICUK provide free modems like other ISP's?
We don't provide free modems / routers because we believe in providing
the best service possible to all users. The free modems that are
issued by some ISP's very low-cost and low-tech which can turn
out to not be terribly reliable. For a long-term, ISP independent,
modem or router we recommend you purchase your own. Most modems
marked for use with ADSL will be compatible with our Broadband.
If you need to check feel free to call us on 0845
00 99 175 or
email solutions@icukhosting.co.uk quoting
the make and model number.
Who do I call if my equipment doesn't work?
The first port-to-call is our own support number. If we deem that the fault may
be your router then you will need to contact your supplier, or manufacturer
direct. Netgear are very helpful when a failure occurs and their support line
can run through a number of diagnostics before you need to return the product. |
